Dienes games in New York

The internationally acclaimed Dienes games of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education and Regional Development of the University of Pécs have now been presented in the United States. Following the success in Canada, the games were presented at the "Visionary Scientists" conference, organized by the Tulipan Foundation and Dr. Tamás Novák, Science and Innovation Diplomat at the Consulate General of Hungary in New York, as part of the John von Neumann Series.

The professional meeting was attended by Iván Zádori, Balázs Klein and Zsolt Nemeskéri, representing UP, who not only gave a scientific lecture, but also surprised the children visiting the Liberty Science Center with a special interactive program, a joint game. The Dienes games proved once again that

learning mathematics can be fun and playful.

The event was also a great success, Judit Polgár, a chess Olympian, was playing simultaneous with twenty enthusiastic children, adding to the excitement of the programme. Other special features of the event included the presentation of a revamped version of the Rubik's Cube family and a giant Einstein picture made out of magic cubes.

Another UP-related highlight of the conference was the presentation of János Bergou, who spoke about quantum games. In an exciting talk, the UP honorary doctor linked the game theory of János Neumann to recent research in quantum physics.

The success of the event was a combination of science, games and creativity, which was another step towards the international promotion of Dienes games by Piatnik.
