The Academic Year 2022/23 was officially closed on 22 June at the Ceremonial Senate Meeting at the Dr. György Romhányi Aula. Several awards have been conferred, honorary professor, assistant professor and professor titles, habilitated doctoral titles and doctoral titles.
"Not everything we planned last year went well, but we still have results. We are moving forward on a bumpy road that serves to change the way the university operates. External and internal obstacles are towering before us. In the field of education and research, our opportunities have multiplied - if only this were also the case in the field of healthcare, which accounts for half of our university's budget. We are confident that this situation will change positively.
The most important program of today's celebration is to greet those who have reached important milestones in their lives or receive awards for their merits. Obtaining degrees is an important goal. At the same time, the definition of a scientist has changed in recent decades: not only have we become more numerous, but different institutions work along different sets of requirements. We strive to make the doctoral and habilitation degrees of the University of Pécs more and more valuable, and we do not want to compromise on the quality" – stated dr. Attila Miseta rector who then encouraged the graduates to use their time wisely.
University awards were conferred
Pro Universitate Quinqueecclesiensi Award:
Lajos Kollár, professor emeritus of the Department of Vascular Surgery of the UP Clinical Center, former Director General of the Clinical Center, for his school-creating activities in the field of clinical patient care, for his exemplary teaching work in deepening the knowledge of university students for many decades, for his internationally recognized professional and scientific activities, for his active public life and health administration work building and maintaining the social relations of the University for his work on behalf of him.
At its meeting on 30 March 2023, at the suggestion of the Faculty of Sciences, the Senate of the University of Pécs awarded the title of Professor Emeritus and the golden badge of the University of Pécs to Professor Antal Aubert, professor of the Faculty of Sciences for his decisive professional work of several decades at the University of Pécs and its geographical trainings, as well as for his outstanding mentoring activity.
Honorary professor and honorary associate professor titles have been conferred, followed by Rector's commendation awards. Several other awards have been conferred upon people for their excellent service and dedication. Habilitated doctoral diplomas and PhD degrees were handed over as well.
"My heartfelt congratulations to everyone, my appreciation for their work! The road to success is rarely straightforward, requires a lot of work, and is often accompanied by detours and failures - especially when experimenting with new paths and methods never known before. Perseverance and dedication help us overcome obstacles. For example, we usually judge Edison by his successes, even though he said: "I never failed, I just tried ten thousand options that did not work.", concluded Professor István Geresdi, President of the University Doctoral Council.
