Pioneering work by Hungarian experts - Now available in English!

The publication of "Environmental Issues - Community Responses" marks a particular highlight in the Hungarian academic world. According to the editor, Dr Judit Farkas - a researcher at the University of Pécs - the book contributes to the international recognition of Hungarian environmental humanities.

Over the past decades, environmental and sustainability issues have increasingly become the focus of the world's attention. In this context, the environmental humanities - which study the interactions between humans and their environment - play an increasingly important role in scientific research and social dialogue.

Environmental humanities encompass many scientific disciplines, including anthropology, sociology, psychology, ethnography, and other social sciences. These fields seek to understand human behavior, lifestyles, beliefs, and values in their environmental context.

This volume is a pioneering work, as it is the first book in Hungary to cover environmental humanities. The book is divided into two parts, covering environmental issues and community responses. This structure allows readers to understand the complexity of the relationships between humans and their environment and to learn about the methods and solutions that environmental humanities address.

In addition, the environmental humanities are concerned with sustainability, i.e., creating and maintaining a balance between human society and the environment. Sustainability aims to ensure that human activities do not damage the environment but preserve and maintain it for future generations.

Dr Judit Farkas, the author and editor of the book, said that the aim was to make it not only a textbook for university students but also an inspiring and interesting read for all those interested in humanities. The book is not just another volume on the shelf but a compass for all those interested in environmental humanities. Its content not only explores environmental issues but also presents community responses and solutions that can be achieved by bringing science and society together.

A unique feature of the book is that those who want to delve deeper into this field have also been taken into consideration since, at the end of the chapters, there is not only a summary and a list of the literature used but also recommended texts and books, with a description of each of them, explaining why they are recommended.

The book's publication is an important step towards the international recognition of Hungarian environmental humanities. It gives hope that the Hungarian scientific community can continue to lead the way in this field.
